Book Review: Party of Two

If you’re looking for a flirty, light, summer read, then this is the perfect option! I would consider this book to be in the “chick lit” romance category. It’s not very long, the writing is better than I expected, and the plot is fun.

Throughout the book, we see a diverse group of characters learn from each other and support one another. I liked that Max and Olivia weren’t your average couple, they came from very different backgrounds but still found much common ground. Olivia is portrayed as a strong, independent, determined woman. She is a business owner and works hard to establish herself in a competitive field. In comparison, Max grew up very privileged, but despite having things come easy to him, he still works very hard — fighting for the common good of people and believing that everyone deserves a fair chance.

In short, the characters can be entertaining, the author sheds light on some current issues present in today’s society, and the romance lures you in to read more. I mentioned earlier that the plot is fun, nothing too eventful, it is what I like to call, “fluff.” Though it is not my favorite book, it also isn’t bad — I’d recommend this book for a quick read, that’s nothing too serious, and good for the beach. I definitely suggest saving money and picking up a copy at your local library.
