Just Haven’t Met You Yet by Sophie Cousens
Book Review: Just Haven’t Met You Yet
If you’re looking for a charming, heartwarming, funny, captivating, and emotional read, then Just Haven’t Met You Yet is the book for you! I am a huge fan of the books that Sophie Cousens writes because even though they are fun, light, and witty, they also contain a lot of depth, and characters that will really resonate with readers.
In Just Haven’t Met You Yet, the main character is a journalist named Laura, who sets off on a business trip to the Channel Islands. She hopes to uncover the truth about her parents’ love story, in order to write a stellar article for her company’s site. After a long flight, when she arrives at her destination, she has the unfortunate luck of mixing up suitcases at the airport. She discovers this when she gets to her hotel and instead of bringing the bag back to the airport and leaving it, she hangs onto it because she is convinced the owner of the suitcase is going to be her soulmate…based on its contents.
During her trip, Laura meets a cab driver named Ted, who takes her around the island and helps her to uncover the truth about her parents’ relationship. In the course of her journey, she discovers some unsettling revelations about her parents, and is left feeling confused and at a loss. Meanwhile, she manages to get in touch with the owner of the suitcase, and has to decide whether things are really as they seem, and if what she thinks is meant to be, truly is her fate. Since she can’t write about her parents’ story anymore, Laura’s very intense boss is convinced she should write about the mysterious suitcase love interest. This leaves Laura with some very big decisions to make during her trip.
This novel explores the themes of love, grief, self-discovery, and family. More than just your standard romantic comedy, Sophie Cousens creates a story full of depth, keeping readers engaged from beginning to end.
I highly recommend this book, as it’s witty, yet it evokes so much emotion! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below if you end up reading it. :)
