Love at First Spite by Anna E. Collins
Book Review: Love at First Spite
Charming, witty, and so much fun, you won’t be able to put down Love at First Spite! This rom-com is definitely a “feel good” book. There are some deeper topics in the story as well, but overall this book is really light and refreshing. It’ll spark some laughter with the ridiculous, yet perfect, way that the main character, Dani, tries to get back at her horrible ex fiancé.
Dani is an interior designer who pairs up with an unlikely match to build her “spite house” to get back at her cheating, manipulative ex fiancé. The architect she pairs up with, Wyatt, is normally seen as very good at what he does, but also extremely cold, and definitely not very social. When Dani slowly starts to get beneath Wyatt’s hard exterior, she discovers someone who is not only passionate about his work, but also sweet, down-to-earth, quirky, and way more personable than she ever imagined.
The themes of family, relationships, communication, revenge, heartbreak, strength, and love are all at the forefront of Love at First Spite. Dani will discover what she wants her future to look like and determine who she really wants in it.
Overall, I really enjoyed/loved this book! I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when I first picked it up, and I am ashamed to admit that I questioned whether it would be a cliché trope, but it was so much more than that!! The themes throughout the novel were really great and made for such a wonderful story. If you are looking for something light, fun, and quick to read, definitely give this book a try! :)
