Book Review: One Day in December

This book is a cute, holiday romance. Personally, I would categorize this as “chick lit;” however, it also depicts the challenges that people face in today’s world (making it a little heavier than the typical “fluff” read).

At first, I thought this book was a little depressing, it didn’t quite draw me in like I expected it to…although, I could have had too high of expectations when I began. Then, as I got through the first half, the plot began to pick up. The perspective shifts between two of the main characters, Laurie and Jack, which makes this a rather quick read. Throughout the book, you keep questioning whether Jack and Laurie will ever find their way to each other. They face hardships in work, relationships, and family, but their close knit friendship keeps them grounded.

In short, I would say that if you’re looking for a quick, holiday read for December, this is a solid choice. Though it may not have been my favorite, I did like it overall.
