Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
Book Review: Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre is a classic novel, often considered gothic fiction, and one of the most famous romance novels of all time. The story follows the life of Jane, as she grows and falls in love, and the hardships she endures.
There were several themes present throughout the novel, including family, love, feminism, religion, gender and class discrimination, and self-discovery. One of the most important aspects of the book is the theme of staying true to oneself. While growing up, and during adulthood, Jane’s morals were often tested, yet she stood by her beliefs, even if it cost her great happiness. The author also depicted the significant role that wealth and social status played in society — with wealth came power. I think that even today, to an extent, this is still true.
In short, I highly recommend this book! Even though it can be sad at times, as you really feel for Jane and all that she goes through, the story shows that by staying true to oneself, life has a way of working out for the best. I felt that this story left a lasting impression — it is one that I will always remember and love!
