Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Book Review: Little Women
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is a classic, must-read masterpiece, for all ages. The author created a realistic story, whose characters are diverse and full of personality. Throughout the novel, the writing is full of imagery, developing a deep sense of emotion and understanding, completely captivating the reader. The lessons learned will stay with the reader long after finishing this book.
This novel follows the lives of the four young March women (Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy) and the personal growth and challenges that they overcome. Although this book is often read at a young age (personally, I first read it when I was 9!), the overall themes and lessons are still relevant to people of any age. The story encompasses the bond of family, the hardships of war, the trials and tribulations of growing up, finding friendship and love, experiencing the death of loved ones, and overall, the joys of living a full life. This novel also teaches the reader the value of being genuine and kind, and it exemplifies that this alone is true wealth, not money.
Overall, Little Women is one of my favorite novels and I highly recommend reading it! I cherished this book the first time I read it, and even more so 19 years later. I could go on and on, describing each character in detail, and expressing just how much I adore this story (but for the sake of keeping this review a decent length, I’ll spare you!).
To those of you who have yet to read it, I hope that you thoroughly enjoy Little Women as much as I did! :)
